Healthcare:

Despite the vast advances in medicine, the healthcare system in our country is in crisis. As a physician, I propose reining in the escalating cost of medical care by emphasizing prevention and promoting primary care. The rising cost of malpractice insurance must be controlled by major tort reform in order to retain our good doctors practicing their specialty and keep from passing down the costs to the patient. By cutting the red tape, the medical community will be able to advance the state of healthcare. Only an actively practicing physician presence at the decision table can articulate solutions to this extremely complex issue.

Education:

We pride ourselves on our high achievers, but the average high school graduate lags behind his counterpart in other parts of the world. We need to prepare our children to compete in a global market and provide them with all the tools necessary to succeed. It is vital to return the control and dollars for education back to the local schools and promote involvement between the teachers, students, and parents. I am the only candidate who has spent a better part of his career as an educator.

Foreign Affairs:

This is my avocation and my interest in this area exceeds the passion for my vocation. Due to my background, being raised overseas and my extensive world travels, my experiences can lend a credible rationale when confronted by international entanglements and issues. This is very important in our shrinking world. My motto is to ‘think globally, but act locally’.

Income Taxes:

The tax system in place is a nightmare to all Americans. It is becoming more and more complicated and acts as a burden, suffocating the best of us. At present time, there is no relief in sight. I am for overhauling and simplifying the income tax system, which is a monstrosity. I will push for a consumption tax, in order to rid us from this annual chore.

Immigration:

As an immigrant myself, I have a unique insight on this emotionally charged issue. We cannot and must not allow anyone, regardless of the country of their origin, to come to the United States undocumented. We cannot let our guard down. I am for strengthening and protecting our borders. It goes against logic for any person or group of people to start a life in their new country by breaking the law. This is our land and we must fight to protect our rights and safety as citizens.

Term Limits:

The only solution to regain the confidence and respect of the voters is to push for term limits. It will clamp down on the influence of lobbyists and nip corruption in the bud. Serving in Congress should be a calling, not a career. I pledge to serve 3 terms and return home to practice medicine.
